The Planning

Garden Design Consultation

Through conversations with you, a questionnaire, and a site meeting in your garden, we explore what you are looking for and your vision. We also identify any challenges or opportunities and discuss your investment level. We then provide a fee proposal and a client brief based on our discussions.

Context: Site survey & analysis

Building a new garden requires full understanding of the site and any influences from the weather, aspect, topography and levels, soil type etc. We also need to have accurate dimensions of the site and how it relates to the house (and other buildings) on and offsite. To do this, we arrange for a topographical survey, carry out online research and spend time analysing the garden.

Concept

Presentation plan: We prepare a concept and mood board for your new garden based on the client brief. Masterplan: for larger projects where there are several areas to be designed, we will initially create a masterplan, which is high level concept for the entire area, before creating presentation plan.

Detailed Design

We produce detailed construction drawings with precise specifications covering every aspect of the design to ensure our vision for your garden is brought to life. We also produce the legally required health and safety documents (Construction and Design Management (CDM) 2015). (The detailed design stage is necessary to accurately cost, build and plant the garden according to the intended design.)

Planting Plans

We create a planting scheme for your garden that works with the location, site conditions, and offers wildlife habitat, and prepare a plant schedule. (The detailed design stage is necessary to accurately cost, build and plant the garden according to the intended design.)

Tender

We can request a quote from one of our preferred accredited professional landscape contractors to build your garden. If you prefer, we can oversee a tender process for the build of your garden. We will create a comparison report for you to make an informed choice. We recommend using qualified landscapers and not builders to create your garden.
